Turkey's president not fit for office

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently stated that women are not equal to men and that the true purpose of a woman is to be a mother. "It is against nature," he said on why women are not equal to men. This is outrageous.

Turkey is a country that has long been trying to get into the European Union, a politic-economic union in which all of Europe's most advanced countries are members. With the misogynistic views of its leader, there is no way that will ever happen.

This is unacceptable in 2014 and honestly massively disappointing. There should be no leader in the world that agrees with this statement, and yet they still persist. Women are equal to men. That should not need explaining.

Along with these types of statements, the Turkish president has been accused of authoritarianism, which is against the democratic principles of the country. This leads me to one conclusion, President Erdogan should be kicked out of office and our government should do something about it.

It is shameful that our government generally supports the Turkish government, even though their leader is not fit to lead. The U.S. should sanction the Turkish until this problem is fixed, because this type of behavior is not acceptable in 2014.
