Hinsdale District 86 Announces Class of 2015 Illinois State Scholars

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today is pleased to announce that 364 students from the Class of 2015 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is the state agency that recognizes the top Illinois high school students annually with this distinction.

Illinois State Scholars represent approximately the top 10 percent of high school seniors from 671 different high schools across the state. Selection is based on SAT, ACT or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year. High school guidance counselors work with ISAC to determine the winners. This year, over 18,000 students statewide received this honor.

"We commend these students for achieving the honor of Illinois State Scholar," said Assistant Superintendent for Academics Pam Bylsma. "Each individual has the right to be proud of earning this recognition as one of the leading scholars in our state, for each achieved this accomplishment by working hard to excel in academic classes and on standardized tests. Their steadfast commitment to a rigorous academic career in District 86 is worthy of our deepest admiration. We congratulate them all, confident that as they continue on the path to college and beyond, their quest for learning will serve them well in the years ahead."

ISAC encourages Illinois families to utilize the many resources available on its website, www.ISAC.org, including a calendar of free financial aid and college access events, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion workshops to assist in the application process, as well as applications for grants and scholarships administered by ISAC. In addition, students can find out how to access free one-on-one assistance and mentoring in the college admissions process.
