No. 19 Syracuse eases past Canisius 70-37

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Alexis Peterson scored 18 points and No. 19 Syracuse crushed in-state opponent Canisius 70-37 on Tuesday.

Peterson was 6 of 10 from the floor, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Brianna Butler had 15 points despite going 2 of 10 on 3-pointers and Cornelia Fondren added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Orange (8-1) outrebounded their neighbors two hours to the west by a 67-31 margin.

Syracuse raced out to a 25-5 lead en route to building a 40-15 halftime advantage behind 13 points from Peterson. Canisius was just 6 of 24 in the half and committed 11 turnovers.

Canisius (4-5) was led by Crystal Porter's 12 points. She added three assists and two blocked shots. The Golden Griffins were just 2 of 13 on 3-pointers and 2 of 7 from the line.
