Police arrest man in Milwaukee sex assault attempt

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police are working to determine whether a man arrested in an attempted sexual assault on the city's north side is responsible for other assaults in the area.

Police said Monday they arrested the man late Sunday. They say he attacked a 25-year-old woman Friday evening in the city's Riverwest neighborhood.

The woman tells police she was walking on the sidewalk around 7 p.m. when the man forced her into a small park. Police say he hit her several times and ran away when she screamed.

They say she was taken to a hospital for treatment for serious injuries that weren't life threatening.

It's unclear how police identified the man. No charges have been reported.
