Police seek help in ID of Palatine area armed robber

Cook County sheriff's police have released a photo of a suspect as they seek to identify the man who robbed a gas station early Monday in unincorporated Palatine.

The man, who may have also been involved in an attempted armed robbery earlier that day in Schaumburg as well as armed robberies in Park Ridge and Prospect Heights, walked up to the counter of a gas station about 2 a.m. Monday in the 1400 block of North Quentin Road, displayed a handgun and demanded money, police said. The man was handed cash and took menthol cigarettes.

Sheriff's police described the suspect as a black man, medium build, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall., wearing a red jacket and red cap, gray scarf/mask, gloves and dark pants. They released a photo of the person who attempted the Schaumburg robbery, also wearing a red jacket, red cap and gray scarf.
