District 211 board President Robertson not seeking re-election

Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board President Bill Robertson has announced he won't seek re-election in the April 7 race.

Robertson, who also serves as superintendent of Creston Community Consolidated School District 161 west of DeKalb, said he wanted to dedicate all of his time to that position.

"It has been my honor to serve the students, parents and residents of District 211," Robertson said in a statement. "I am proud of the work we have done together to ensure the best possible education for our high school students here in the largest high school district in Illinois. In the past four years, we successfully conducted an expansive superintendent search process, built collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and brought fiscally responsible practices to the board."

Robertson is a Palatine resident first elected to the board in 2011. He was elected president by his fellow board members in 2013.

Other District 211 board members whose terms are ending in the spring are Mucia Burke, Richard Gerber and George Brandt. Burke and Gerber have filed for re-election and will be joined on the ballot by challengers Peter Dombrowski, Roman G. Golash, Will Hinshan, Lauanna Recker and Robert. D. Lithgow.

The filing period runs through Monday, Dec. 22.
