Schaumburg library accepting 'Food for Fines'

The annual holiday "Food for Fines" program will be ongoing until Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Schaumburg Township District Library at 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg, as well as at its Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park branches.

Library users are welcome to pay their fines by bringing in canned or boxed non-perishable food items. Each item will take 50 cents from library fines, with a limit of 10 items per visit.

Expired food will not be accepted.

The donated food will be given to the Schaumburg Township District Food Pantry, while pet food will be donated to the Almost Home Foundation.

Food donations will not be accepted for lost or damaged items, or collection agency fines.
