State trooper suffers minor injuries in Antioch crash

An Illinois State Police trooper suffered minor injuries when the driver of a 2007 Pontiac Sedan blew through a stop sign and struck the trooper's moving squad car in Antioch Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 2:53 p.m. on east Route 173 east of Route 59, Illinois State Police Sgt. Sue Ewald said.

The on-duty trooper was headed to I-94 when the Pontiac hit the squad car's rear passenger door on the driver's side, Ewald said.

The trooper was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.

Charges are pending against the offending driver, whose age and gender weren't immediately known, Ewald said.
