App reviews: Red Stamp Cards; GateGuru

Red Stamp Cards

Holiday cards can be a not-so-jolly task. (It takes real work to look that festive!) With Red Stamp Cards, you can do it all from your smartphone - even pull together your recipient list straight from your contacts. The app offers a range of options for cards to email to loved ones, or you can pay to have them sent within five to seven days. Users can add their own pictures. They can come up with their own messages or rely on boilerplate suggestions.

Users will have to make an account to save and send their cards. The app has a range of templates, but it isn't that forgiving when it comes to moving things around. So if you want to be super creative, you're better off doing things the old-fashioned way. But if you just want something quick, easy and all done from your smartphone? Consider Red Stamp Cards. Free, with in-app purchases, for iOS and Android devices.

GateGuru

Traveling is a pain. And we've all found ourselves waiting at a gate, only to find out that the flight has been moved across the terminal. GateGuru attempts to make navigating the airport a little less painful. The app will send you push notifications in case of a gate change.

It also has maps and lists of amenities for major airports around the country. And you can look at reviews that others have left about the airport to find the best food on the go.

The app does require your location to work. GateGuru also has a lot of partnerships, including with Avis, which means that you can book rentals from within the app - often at a discount.

You can also connect your GateGuru account to other services such as Tripit and Kayak to pull in planned flights automatically. Free, for iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices.
