Round Lake Area Exchange Club names its December Hometown Hero

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club announced that its December Hometown Hero is U.S. Army Pvt. Margaret Wehde, an 18-year resident of Grayslake.

Wehde is a 2014 graduate from Grayslake Central High School and works at the Village of Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center when home. She is stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

She was registered for this honor by her mother, Stacey, also of Grayslake.

Wehde is scheduled to be home in February 2015, and will attend University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the fall.

With the support of this month's sponsor, Round Lake Area Park District, Wehde's "Hanging with the Heroes" care package will be filled with Skittles, Swedish Fish, other candies and snacks, as well as a gift card from Bath and Body Works.

Also included is a personalized "Hanging with the Heroes" T-shirt donated by Artrageous of Hainesville, letters from Round Lake Area Unit District 116 students, a specially made rosary for the military from Legion of Mary from St. Joseph's in Round Lake and a piece of home.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club will present a plaque to her family at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Panera Bread in Round Lake Beach.

If you have a neighbor, family member, friend, employee, employer, etc. serving in the military, register them by going to www.rlaexchange.org/hero.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club needs the community's help in signing up local heroes for this honor. Any and all military personnel serving overseas or in the USA from any of the Round Lake Areas, Hainesville, Fox Lake, Ingleside or surrounding areas qualify for the program.
