Zonta Club presents "Amelia Earhart," a first person portrayal

Get to know Amelia Earhart on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the St. Charles Township offices at 1725 Dean St. in St. Charles. The Zonta Club of St. Charles-Geneva-Batavia proudly presents "Amelia Earhart," a first-person portrayal by Leslie Goddard.

Amelia was an adventurer, a celebrity and a Zontian. Each January, Zontians around the world celebrate her life, tenacity, accomplishments and legacy. The club invites you to join them to learn more about this historical female figure.

The Zonta Club is a volunteer service organization working to empower women and families locally and globally. Zontians raise funds to provide scholarships for local women and girls; grants for local service agencies working to eradicate domestic violence and advance the status of women; and international programs that help empower, educate and protect women who are seeking literacy, proper education, have HIV, are injured by complications from substandard care during childbirth, are victims of childhood marriage, gender-based violence and human trafficking.

The Zonta club meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and then they will get to know Amelia at 7:30 p.m. Public attendance at both is encouraged. Seating is limited and registration is required. To RSVP, contact club president Laurie Perry at zontaclubsgb@outlook.com or (573) 774-9483. A $10 donation at the door is appreciated.
