ECC board candidates can file nominating papers Dec. 15

Two, six-year terms for the office of trustee at Elgin Community College District 509 will be elected at the Consolidated Election April 7, 2015.

Prospective candidates can begin filing nominating papers Dec. 15 in the local elections official's office in Building B, Room B235, on Elgin Community College's campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123. Petitions may be filed either in person or by U.S. mail.

The period for filing nominating papers is Monday through Friday, Dec. 15-22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Note that filings made by mail must be received no earlier than the opening of the office on Dec. 15 and no later than 5 p.m. on the last day of the filing period, Dec. 22.

A lottery (if needed) for simultaneous filings at 8 a.m., on the first day of filing, will be held Dec. 23 in the same office where nominating papers are filed. Candidates need not be present at the lottery.

The office will be open for public viewing of the nominating papers Dec. 15-23 and Jan. 2, 5, 6 and 7, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Objections to nominating papers will be received in the same office where nominating papers are filed. The office will be open for receiving objections Dec. 23 and Jan. 2, 5, 6, and 7, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The college is closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, 2015.

Consequently, during that time, any objections can be sent by certified mail with receipt, along with your name, address and telephone number. The objection must be postmarked by Jan. 7, 2015, and addressed to: Elgin Community College Election Official, Building B, 235.04, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123.
