Girls gymnastics: Buffalo Grove wins at Elk Grove

Buffalo Grove's girls gymnastics team cleared 130 points in claiming a victory over host Elk Grove on Thursday in a Mid-Suburban East dual.

Buffalo Grove junior Diandra Duenser led the way with victories on uneven bars (8.4) and floor exercise (9.15) on her way to the top all-around total (34.30) after battling the flu.

The Bison finished with 130.20, with the Grens coming in at 117.75.

Key for Buffalo Grove was going 4-for-4 on its first four balance beam efforts.

The Bison had the top score on balance beam from freshman Kara Tyner (8.7). Another Bison frosh, Emily Ruby, was second on uneven bars (7.9) and tied with Tyner for the second-best all-around total (31.65).

Elk Grove's top finish came from junior Anna Bonder, who won vault (8.4).

Also cracking the top three for the Grens was sophomore Angel Skuse, with a second-place effort on floor exercise. Bonder and Skuse both finished with an all-around total of 31.60.
