Music Notes: Clint Black, Voodoo Daddy get festive in 'burbs

Christmas swing

High-energy band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brings its contemporary take on blues and swing music to North Central College this weekend. In keeping with the season, the performance will have a holiday twist. 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton, Naperville. Tickets start at $40. Record release

The band 6'10 is the side project of Tobin Bawinkel, who's also part of acclaimed Chicago Celtic punk band Flatfoot 56. 6'10 gives Bawinkel a chance to explore acoustic, folksy influences. The band just released its debut album, “The Humble Beginnings of a Roving Soul,” which it will celebrate with a show in Lombard this weekend. 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Brauerhouse, 1000 N. Country superstar

Clint Black, one of the heavyweights of mainstream country music, will make a special appearance in the suburbs this weekend to perform a Christmas concert at the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage. The set promises to include Black's hits and plenty of holiday songs. 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the McAninch Arts Center, Fawell and Park boulevards, Glen Ellyn. Tickets start at $60.
