Palatine High School's Lunchapalooza brings students together

Palatine High School has many programs and initiatives to improve its school climate and recently celebrated its annual three-day student inclusion event called Lunchapalooza.

The goal of the event was for students to sit with someone new during their lunch hour and promote a positive school environment. Lunchapalooza is part of Palatine's Promise, a group that encourages anti-bullying and strives to enhance school climate and community.

Students participate in fun, encouraging group events, as well as sing karaoke, dance, perform and share other talents for the event.

Lunchapalooza also included several different activities to mix up students during their lunch hours, as well as community fundraising efforts, writing "love" on students' arms with henna ink, and writing positive affirmations in the school cafeteria on poster paper and on the tile floor.

Palatine's Promise will continue to host events through the rest of the academic year. Highlights from student performances are posted at YouTube; a link is at dailyherald.com/more.
