Prospect second at St. Viator's invite

St. Ignatius took top honors in the five-team St. Viator boys swimming invitational, but there was plenty for second-place Prospect and the third-place host Lions to be pleased with on Wednesday.

The Wolfpack was able to win all three relays to amass 303 points, with Prospect at 250 and St. Viator at 203.

Prospect senior Sam Gabriel won the 100-yard backstroke in a terrific early season time (55.19) and the Knights also had a pair of runner-up relays, with the medley of Gabriel, Isaac Ginnodo, Michael Morikado and Tyler Culliton finishing in 1:46.53 and the 200 free relay of Morikado, Culliton, Nick Partipilo and Gabriel touching in 1:36.36.

Morikado won the 100 fly in 57.14, and Ginnodo was second in the 100 breast in 1:08.53.

St. Viator freshman Michael Balcerak won both the 200 freestyle (1:46.58) and the 100 free (48.70), and St. Viator's 400 free relay was second in 3:36.87.
