Get in spirit at popular 'Sing-Along Messiah' Concert

Harper College's Festival Chorus will take a cue from a long-standing Chicago holiday tradition and hold its second annual "Sing-Along Messiah" Concert.

Similar to the International Music Foundation's annual Do-It-Yourself Messiah concert downtown, a professional orchestra will accompany both Harper's nonaudition community ensemble and festive audience members in singing Handel's "Messiah."

The Sing-Along will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the Performing Arts Center on the College's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, in Palatine.

Led by Director Ann Espel, the Festival Chorus is an outreach program of Harper's Continuing Education Community Music Center and partially supported by an Illinois Arts Council grant. The group will also sing a variety of holiday selections accompanied by a professional symphony orchestra at its Christmas Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Performing Arts Center.

Tickets to both concerts are $12-$18 and admission is free for children 5 and under. They can be purchased at harpercollege.edu/boxoffice or by calling (847) 925-6100.
