Longtime downtown dining staple Ye Olde Town Inn abruptly closed over the weekend, just months after receiving a settlement for $6.5 million from the village of Mount Prospect. Former employees said yesterday there was no notice given before the restaurant closed its doors. Full story.

Jeff Samardzija, David Robertson coming to White Sox

The White Sox reportedly made two major moves early this morning, acquiring starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija from the Oakland Athletics in a trade for infielder Marcus Semien and other prospects. Homeowner injured in Hoffman Estates fire

A family pet died and a homeowner was injured in a fire yesterday afternoon in Hoffman Estates that caused more than $600,000 in damage, fire officials said. The blaze began just after 12:30 p.m. at a home on the 1400 block of Della Drive. A firefighter also suffered a minor injury fighting the fire. Full story.

Woman charged with filing false stabbing report

A Des Plaines woman was charged with filing a false police report for saying she was stabbed last month while jogging in a Palatine forest preserve, Cook County officials said yesterday. Veronica Klicka, 33, was arrested Friday and charged with disorderly conduct, a felony. Full story.

Investigation in to Rosemont hotel gas leak continues

Police continue to investigate what they say was an intentional gas leak at a Rosemont hotel over the weekend that sent 19 to the hospital and led to the evacuation of hundreds of guests. The leak happened at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, which was hosting the Midwest FurFest. Full story.

West Chicago man charged with DUI in fatal crash

A West Chicago man faces aggravated drunken driving charges after a fiery head-on crash that killed a man Friday night in West Chicago at Route 59 and Gary's Mill Road. Omar Montoya Medina, 29, faces two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol causing death, county officials said yesterday. Full story.

Deerfield 'Family Guy' mom now stars on HBO series

A Deerfield native and the voice of Lois on "Family Guy" can now be seen in person in her latest endeavor, on the HBO series "Getting On," where she plays a nurse in the dark comedy about a woman's extended care facility. She moved to California when she was 7 or 8 but comes back to Chicago every year for a Bears game. Full story.

Atheism sign vandalized again in Arlington Heights park

Vandals damaged an atheism sign installed as part of a holiday display at North Park School in Arlington Heights for the second year in a row. The group that placed the sign there, Freedom From Religion Foundation, is offering a $2,000 reward to help find out who is responsible. Full story.

Work continues at the intersection of Route 83 and Peterson Road near Grayslake. The long term construction project will cause restrictions on Route 83 between Winchester and Peterson until mid-June, 2015. Full traffic.

Bears' Marshall will miss the rest of the season

The Chicago Bears' Brandon Marshall will miss the rest of the season, he announced yesterday. Marshall was hospitalized after suffering two broken ribs and lung damage in last Thursday's loss to the Cowboys. Full story.
