Villa Park man charged with DUI after crash
Authorities have announced aggravated drunken driving charges against a Villa Park man who was involved in a Nov. 28 single-vehicle crash that left him and his passenger injured.
Jose A. Ortiz-Barocio, 25, has been charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and with no valid driver's license, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Villa Park Police Department.
Ortiz-Barocio was the driver of a 2005 Ford Explorer that struck a tree about 4:30 a.m. Nov. 28 on the 600 Block of West Plymouth in Villa Park. The two occupants of the vehicle - Ortiz-Barocio and a passenger - both suffered injuries and were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. While Ortiz-Barocio was treated and released, the passenger was hospitalized with a broken leg, police said.
Villa Park police said an investigation revealed that Ortiz-Barocio was under the influence at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody on Friday.
Ortiz-Barocio's bail has been set at $150,000. He would need to post $15,000 to get out of the DuPage County jail.
