Believe Project: $100 to help friends with big prescription bills

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is

Pat Purcell of Streamwood.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"For Christmas I would love to give a couple I know in need a $100 bill. My friend's husband is disabled and due to complications from diabetes had to have surgery and lose part of his foot. They are in their early 50s. The wife cannot work due to disability also. They are struggling monthly with only Social Security Disability benefits. The wife is currently battling cancer, and with all the medical bills that is so overwhelming. Food money would be appreciated."

• The Believe Project will award $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use $100 to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
