Update on Kaneland's superintendent search

The search for the next superintendent is nearing an end, and the Kaneland Unit District 302 school board is inviting the public to meet the finalists this week.

Tentative plans for the final candidates include visits on Wednesday, Dec. 10 and Thursday, Dec. 11.

One candidate will visit on Wednesday and one on Thursday. The candidates will arrive in the district early afternoon and tour several schools to meet students and staff. A session to meet community members is scheduled in the Kaneland High School library from 4:15-5 p.m. on each day. At this time, you will have the opportunity to meet the finalist and to hear about his or her background.

You may pose questions on index cards that will be provided, and then a moderator will pose those questions to the candidate. Before you leave, you will be asked to complete an input form. The board will consider your input when making their final selection. The new superintendent should be announced and presented at the Dec. 15 regular meeting of the Board of Education.

Please try to attend at least one of these sessions, as board members will appreciate your comments. It is also a great opportunity for us to show the candidates what a wonderful place Kaneland is.

If you have any questions about the process or these community sessions, please do not hesitate to contact Renee Goier, interim superintendent, at renee.goier@kaneland.org.

Additional comments can be posted on the district website under superintendent search at web.kaneland.org/content/superintendent-search#feedback.
