Cary bank robbed Monday evening

A Cary bank was robbed just before closing Monday evening, police say.

Cary police received a call at 5:53 p.m. of a bank robbery at Fifth Third Bank, 750 Northwest Highway, Sgt. Geoffrey Witherow said.

Witnesses described the thief as a black man, 5 foot 11 inches tall and about 25 years old with a thin build. The man entered the bank, demanded money and was given an undisclosed amount, Witherow said. He was last seen leaving the bank on foot. No weapon was used in the robbery, police say.
