Sussman the only one who is listening
As Daily Herald reporter Steve Zalusky has written, there is no question the proposal for a downtown redevelopment will be a major election issue if Trustee Beverly Sussman resolves to run for village president against current President Jeff Braiman.
The simple, open, conflicting issue is that, one, the current board of trustees - except Trustee Sussman - and everyone else working in the village hall has decided on and is committed to doing the development, and, two, the people of the village and Trustee Sussman, don't want it.
By a count of a thousand to one, they have shown up at every village meeting for the past two years to assert their opposition - as the true owners of the village properties - and they have spoken, argued, pleaded, protested and struggled unendingly against the development, but to deaf ears. Trustee Sussman, alone, is the only one on the board who has heard them. The only one.
If she does run - and the people of the village pray that she does, she should carry the vote, hands down, for the thought of preparing the land in a flood plain for a new construction dream that no one who lives in the village wants, is no dream; to the people of Buffalo Grove it is a nightmare.
