Environmental Defenders to host used book sale

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will hold its annual Holiday Kick-Off Book Sale at the Woodstock Square Mall building lobby, 110 S. Johnson St., on the Woodstock Square. The sale continues through Thursday, Dec. 11. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays; and closed Sundays.

Books are $1 for hardcovers; 50 cents for mass market paperbacks; and 25 cents for children's books. Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 9-11, all books will be $5 per paper grocery bag.

Books have been donated by the public as well as several libraries, everything from kids' books to popular fiction, science to biography, and everything in between.

Donations of re-sellable books are accepted year round at the Defenders' Green Spot Used Book store, also located in the Woodstock Square Mall building on the main floor.

Proceeds from the sale benefit the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the environment.

The group provides community residents with educational programs and volunteer action on pollution prevention, sustainable land use and energy and natural resource conservation.

Donations are encouraged and are tax-deductible as charitable contributions. For more information, visit www.mcdef.org or call (815) 338-0393.
