Intersections with cameras are the safest around

I really disagree with your stance on red-light cameras. The safest intersections around are those with red-light cameras. The easiest way to not get a ticket/fine at one is simply to stop before turning on red, or don't drive through the red light.

As a driver, I can't count how many times people have turned right on red in right front of me, or without stopping, forcing me to slow or switch lanes to avoid hitting them. Or how many drivers go through the light as it turns, red creating a very dangerous situation.

In large part, people don't do these things at red-light intersections. As a biker and runner, I have little worry at a red-light camera intersection because I know people will stop there. At a regular intersection, that is not the case, and pedestrians and bikers have to be very careful because many people do not stop before turning, and also generally just look at oncoming traffic before going, not the other way. At a red-light camera intersection, drivers stop fully and look both ways for the most part.

Remember, our laws do little to punish someone who does commit a violation and causes property damage or personal injury, unless drunk or otherwise impaired. We should actually increase the use of red-light cameras.
