Fremont library's annaul gingerbread village to be raffled off for fundraiser
For four years, Claude Bouteille, owner/chef of Taste of Paris bakery and café, has created the gingerbread village displayed inside the front doors of the Fremont Public Library in Mundelein.
This year's display includes a church, the Mundelein Metra station, a log cabin made of pretzels, and the ice palace from the movie "Frozen." Bouteille does most of the work, but gets some assistance from his staff.
"It's just a wonderful thing," said Becky Ingram, the library's assistant director. "The kids love to look at it as well as the adults. It brings the spirit of holiday goodness to the library."
This year, Bouteille is raffling off the individual buildings to raise money for Lake County Haven, which serves homeless women and children. Raffle tickets must be purchased at the restaurant, 161 N. Seymour Ave., Mundelein. Winners will be announced the weekend before Christmas. The library is at 1170 N. Midlothian Road.
