Holiday festivals spreading good cheer throughout DuPage

If you had any doubt the holiday season is upon us, a plethora of activities this weekend in DuPage County should guarantee visions of sugar plums dancing in your head. Here's a quick look at some of what's happening ...

• The Wood Dale Historical Society and Yesterday's Farm Museum are celebrating Holiday on the Farm from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at 850 N. Wood Dale Road. The party will include crafts, a white-elephant sale, bake sale, raffle booth, silent auction and, after 7 p.m., child's craft making, music and refreshments. Free admission. • West Chicago celebrates Frosty Fest from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday throughout downtown. There's a Frosty Procession at 4 p.m. from Main Street west on Route 59 into downtown; a grand tree lighting at 4:30 p.m. at Fox Community Center, 306 Main St.; and a community mural dedication at 5 p.m. at 103 W. • Downtown Lisle comes alive during Lights of Lisle from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Things really get into the full holiday swing with a Santa Parade at 4 p.m. from Main Street to the Museums of Lisle Station Park and a tree lighting at 6 p.m. at village hall. There also will be plenty of music and some ice-carving demonstrations, along with thousands of luminaria lighting village streets. For details, visit villageoflisle.org.

• Lisle also will celebrate Once Upon a Christmas from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Museums of Lisle Station Park, 921 School St. The event includes brick-oven baking, music, blacksmithing, hayrides and more. For details, visit lisleparkdistrict.org.

• Cantigny Park will hold its holiday festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Plans call for a tree-lighting ceremony, Mistletoe Market, carolers, live reindeer and a funny old guy in a red suit. For details, call (630) 668-5161 or visit cantigny.org.

• Lombard's Jinglebell Jubilee is from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Lilacia Park and the village's downtown. Santa arrives at 6 p.m. at the park; Madrigal Singers and tours of the Victorian Cottage Museum are from 6 to 8 p.m.; and there's a singalong from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Maple Street Chapel. • Wheaton's Reindeer Run steps off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday along Main Street in downtown, with proceeds benefiting Lions Club charities and the new Ronald McDonald House in Winfield. For details, visit wheatonlions.org.

• The 40th anniversary of Naperville's Merry Tuba Christmas will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at U.S. Bank, 136 S. Washington St., and 12:45 p.m. at Westfield Fox Valley in Aurora. If the thought of dozens of tuba players belting out holiday favorites doesn't get you in the spirit of the season, you're officially a Grinch. The concerts are free. • Santa, it turns out, has more flying animals at his disposal than just reindeer. See what else he's got up his sleeve - think birds of prey and other winged creatures - when Willowbrook Wildlife Center sponsors Talons and Claus starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at 525 S. • Wheaton's Holiday Stroll runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in downtown. Shops and boutiques offer treats, carriage rides and carolers. For details, visit downtown wheaton.com.

• Kline Creek Farm celebrates Christmas on the Farm from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 1N600 County Farm Road, West Chicago. Visitors can partake in a Victorian Christmas inside an 1890s farmhouse with an old-fashioned Santa, caroling and hot cider. The event is free and details are available at dupageforest.org.

• Celebrate a Farmside Christmas from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Bensenville's Fischer Farm, 16W680 Old Grand Ave. The Elmhurst College Brass Quintet and Elmhurst College Voice Ensemble will be on hand for the free event that also includes hay rides. For details, visit bensenvilleparkdistrict.org.

• The Roselle History Museum holds its annual Christmas Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at 102 S. Prospect St., Roselle. You can view exhibits illustrating Roselle's history and munch on homemade cookies. For details, call (630) 529-6228.

• Christmas at the Station runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at historic Hedges Station, 0N555 Winfield Road, Winfield. The Currier Elementary School Orchestra will perform, as will the Community High School Brass Quintet and A Cappella Choir.
