Lee Street traffic shift over I-90 next week

Traffic on the Lee Street bridge over the Jane Addams Tollway will shift next week as part of the ongoing interchange reconstruction project.

Illinois Tollway officials say one lane of traffic in each direction on Lee Street will be shifted onto the reconstructed northbound side of the bridge during the week of Dec. 8, weather permitting. The shift will take place during nonpeak daytime hours and is scheduled to be completed before the evening rush hour.

Crews will then remove and reconstruct the southbound side of the bridge beginning this winter.

Also next week, traffic on the eastbound entrance ramp and westbound exit ramp will be shifted back to the standard configuration with full lanes at the intersection with Lee Street, officials said.

The project is scheduled to be complete in 2015.
