Lake Park celebrates holidays with craft fair, concert, play

Lake Park High School will host a number of festive community events this month beginning with its 33rd annual Holiday Craft Fair.

The holiday craft show runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the field house of the West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr, Roselle. Nearly 100 crafters will have handcrafted gift items for sale.

Admission is $2 for adults, and free for senior citizens and children. For details, call (630) 295-5313.

The holiday events continue when the Lake Park High School Band and Choir programs present the annual Holiday Festival of Music on Tuesday, Dec. 9. A crowd favorite and special tradition of the event includes inviting all Lake Park choral alumni to come onstage and sing Handel's "Hallelujah!"

The joint performance begins at 7 p.m. in the west campus auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for first-come, first-served seating.

Ticket prices are $3 for adults, $2 for students (other high schools and college), and free for senior citizens, Lake Park students with ID and children younger than 13.

Finally, the Lake Park Theatre Department presents the Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol." The show will be classically staged with period costumes, English accents and all of the favorite characters. Incorporating the traditions of the holiday season, the performances also will include a singalong during curtain call when audience members can join in Christmas carols before leaving.

"A Christmas Carol" takes the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 11 to 13, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, in the East Campus' Dice Auditorium, 600 S. Medinah Road, Roselle. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 students (other high schools and college), and free for senior citizens, Lake Park students with ID and children younger than 13.
