Vista CEO Earns National Recognition

Barbara J. Martin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vista Health System, has been recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as one of "24 of the Leading Women to Know in Healthcare." She also is included in Becker's listing of "500+ People to Know in Healthcare."

Becker's is a nationally known news source within the healthcare industry with a high profile monthly publication and strong online presence. Martin has been similarly recognized by Becker's in the past, most recently in its September 2013 listing, "130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know."

"It's a great honor to be included in this outstanding group of 24 women leaders in healthcare," Martin said. "I would like to thank the editorial staff at Becker's for this recognition and am happy to accept it not only on my behalf, but for the physicians, nurses, administrators and staff at Vista. We all share the same goal of working to provide new and expanded services and high quality care for all of our patients throughout Lake County."

Joining Martin on this year's 24 Leading Women in Healthcare list are a number of CEOs from major healthcare systems across the country and other leaders throughout the industry. The list also includes senior U.S. government officials: Sylvia Mathews Burwell, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, Edith Ramirez, Chairwoman and Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, and Marilyn Tavenner, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

In addition to serving as the President and CEO of Vista, Martin is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Hospital Association and serves on the American Hospital Association's Committee for Metropolitan Hospitals. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for Lewis University and has held numerous board positions with leading healthcare, business and community organizations. She has been recognized with many achievement awards and has testified before U.S. Congressional Hearings in Washington, D.C.
