River Trails Park District 50th Anniversary Logo

Throughout 2015 you will see the River Trails Park District 50th Anniversary Logo posted around its buildings and parks. The Anniversary logo represents the beginning of the River Trails Park District and where it is today. The original logo colors were black and white with a tree and river. The tree and river have always been a representation of the Park District by embodying the land it serves. These colors bring great significance to the Park District; black representing the depth of their existence and the white expressing the clear and consistent mission of the agency. The ribbon identifies the beginning of time until today. This logo takes a look back into history with a vintage seal and mechanical cog gearing up for 50 years of celebrations, tradition and excitement towards the future.

The First Logo

The original logo came to life by the look and layout of the area and the name itself "River Trails". In 1966 the River Trails Park District ran a contest among the students in the district in search of a more detailed logo. The lucky winner was Jan Richards who was the age of 15 and won a $25 U.S. savings bond for her design! There were 150 entries and all were displayed at Randhurst Mall from February till March 1966.
