Shop Trinity International's Fair Trade Gift Market

Trinity International University will host a Fair Trade Gift Market from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Waybright Center on Trinity's main campus, 2065 Half Day Road, Deerfield.

This year, you can use your holiday spending to make a difference in lives around the world. A variety of Chicagoland's fair trade vendors will bring products. Many local vendors, such as The Mustard Seed (Lake Forest) and Ten Thousand Villages (Evanston), will offer handmade merchandise from a variety of countries in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia, as well as Haiti.

Items available for purchase include home décor, clothing, handbags, accessories, jewelry, baskets, ornaments, items for children, and more.

The fair trade movement helps artisans in developing countries by providing sustainable economic opportunities through a viable marketplace for their products. The purchase of these items provides a means of employment and artistic expression for the artisans, plus proceeds are returned to their communities to support clean water, food, education, and other justice initiatives.

Visitors to the market will also enjoy live music and festive food, including fair trade chocolate, coffee, and Bethy's Cakes.

Make a positive impact this holiday season by shopping at the Fair Trade Gift Market at Trinity International University. The event is free. For more information, visit tiu.edu/fairtrade.
