No immigrant should get special treatment

The president has just passed his amnesty program, disguised as "immigration reform." I love the way he, Sen. Dick Durbin and the others wring their hands at the "broken immigration" system and the only thing they do to "fix" it is to reward illegal immigrants for breaking the law.

Here are some steps to fix the broken immigration system.

• Change the laws that allow anchor babies. In order to be a citizen, not only do you have to be born here, but at least one of your parents must be a legal resident.

• Send all illegal immigrants back to their country of origin. If their anchor baby is under 18 years old, the child goes back with them because he/she has not reached the age of consent. If over 18, it is up to them if they want to stay or not.

• Close the borders, for real.

• Update the requirements for citizenship to whatever the politicians think is fair. Consider adding requirements other countries have to prove "worth." Regardless, the requirements must be applied fairly to ALL seeking citizenship.

• Quit rewarding those who are here illegally and slapping the face of legal immigrants.

Finally, seeking equal application of the law is not racist. Expecting special treatment for a certain group of individuals based on race is.
