Diner on cellphone showed no courtesy

Recently, my date and I went to an upscale restaurant to celebrate her birthday. Or, as some would say, another mile marker on the road of life. After we ordered drinks and appetizers, another couple was seated nearby. The restaurant was very calm and peaceful. You guessed it - Mr. Bigshot's cellphone began to ring.

We were treated to a symphony of obnoxious noise. Upon answering his phone he proceeded to speak in a volume which a deaf person could hear three tables away. The higher the volume of speech the more important the person is.

If called to task for the lack of courtesy the cellphone user will quote the First Amendment of freedom of speech and become the victim. I speak only for myself when I say that I have rights, also. My right is the pursuit of happiness. When attending a function, certain courtesy should be applied. When you become 21 years of age, you are an adult and should act like one. Being polite and courteous are part of adulthood. This includes the use of cellphones.
