Dickens era on display in downtown Antioch

The Antioch Chamber of Commerce continued its Dickens Holiday Village throughout downtown on Saturday.

Lifelike figures from the Dickens era are on display along the sidewalks through Jan. 2. Each character has a plaque describing the scene it represents represents.

Volunteers made the mannequins, sculpted and painted the heads, created the storyline and clothed the characters for this community art project.

Many family fun events continue into December, including live characters based on those in novels by Charles Dickens, a gingerbread scavenger hunt, and performances of "Those Were the Days Radio Players of Lake County" at the Antioch Public Library and "A Christmas Carol" at PM&L Theatre.
