Fires damage two homes in Glendale Heights

A pair of fires damaged homes Thursday in Glendale Heights, authorities said Friday.

The first fire, apparently sparked by a bedroom ceiling fan, occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the 100 block of West Altgeld Avenue, Glenside Fire Protection District Chief Russ Wood said. Although the fire caused an estimated $15,000 damage, residents were able to return to the home.

The second fire occurred around 5:45 p.m. on the 1600 block of Jones Street. The fire caused about $50,000 damage and left the home uninhabitable, Wood said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said, but does not appear suspicious,

No injuries were reported in either fire.
