New Maine Twp. emergency management director named

Dagmar Rutzen has been promoted to director of the Maine Township Office of Emergency Management. Rutzen, formerly the chief deputy director of operations, has been acting director since the death of longtime director Bob Cohen last month. Rutzen will oversee the township's emergency and disaster planning, which includes providing evacuation guidance, damage assessment, recovery information and coordinating with state and federal agencies, officials said. Rutzen is a retired teacher from Algonquin Middle School in Des Plaines and a trustee of the North Maine Fire Protection District. Her appointment was confirmed this week by the township board.
