Students' acceptance benefited 2 young athletes

Glenbard West High School's cheerleading and dance team this year made history. I would like to thank all the participants and coaches who included and incorporated students with disabilities in their routines.

As a member of the varsity cheerleading team, I know the pressure and commitment it takes to make a routine perfect and concise. Going out in front of a football stadium or a pep rally is a test of nerves. However, due to the unity and trust among those of all abilities, each routine this year was successful and made a statement. It is not every day you see people accepting each other for who they are rather than their talents. Two students' dreams came alive this year when the dance and cheerleading squads included a disabled athlete into each of their programs. Thank you all for your acceptance.
