Food manufacturer expands in South Elgin bringing 110 jobs

A California-based fresh food manufacturer is expanding to South Elgin.

Gov. Pat Quinn's office announced in a news release on Tuesday that Fuji Food Products Inc. is opening a $2.5 million food processing and distribution facility in South Elgin that is expected to create 110 jobs.

Quinn's office says Fuji Food chose South Elgin for reasons that include a solid transportation network and access to a quality workforce. The company serves more than 6,000 supermarkets in 45 states. Fuji's products include sushi, edamame, sandwiches and rice bowls.

The release says Fuji's expansion was made possible by a $1 million tax credit under the state's Economic Development for a Growing Economy program, for companies that can show they're considering sites outside of Illinois.
