Mooseheart's Holiday Lights features new displays

Back for its fifth year, Mooseheart's Holiday Lights show has become a family tradition, not only for communities in Kane County, but for individuals and families who enjoy a break from the frantic pace associated with the holidays.

"This event is not just geared toward children," Mooseheart Executive Director Gary Urwiler said. "We say it's for families, but that can mean grandparents and grandchildren, or parents with young children, or nieces and nephews and friends. It's truly a family event."

As in previous years, the Holiday Lights show opens Friday, Nov. 28, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and continues through Dec. 31. The show is open from 5 to 9 p.m. every night and features many of the favorite displays from past years, with new displays set to keep visitors entertained during the 1.8-mile tour through Mooseheart's campus.

"We're hoping to see a lot of our neighbors and fraternal friends and others here for the Holiday Lights show," Urwiler said. "Each year, we come up with some different ideas and some different displays that we want to share in hopes that it shows growth every year."

Mooseheart's band will be featured and play in the Fieldhouse on Dec. 12, the first of six nights when Santa Claus sits for free photographs.

Santa will visit the Holiday Lights show on six nights this year, from Dec. 12-14 and Dec. 19-21. His visits are from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. During that time, Santa will sit for photos with children and families, who must bring their own camera.

The cost of the Holiday Lights show is $10 per car. For details, visit www.mooseheart.org.
