Enroll in Health Insurance at Zion-Benton School District Event, Dec. 13

The Zion-Benton School District and Enroll Lake County! are teaming up to provide the community with information about new health coverage options and free enrollment assistance during the new enrollment period for the Health Insurance Marketplace. They are offering a special enrollment event at West Elementary School, 2412 Jethro Avenue in Zion, Illinois, on Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Health Insurance Marketplace has coverage options available regardless of one's current health, income level or employment. Enroll in a health plan by December 15th, 2014 if you want your plan to go into effect on January 1st. Trained and certified counselors, called Navigators, will be on-site free of charge to help residents explore their coverage options and apply for help to pay for coverage. Many Illinoisans are eligible to get help to pay for coverage.

Undocumented children and pregnant women may also qualify for Medicaid and should use this opportunity to get the health coverage that meets their needs and budget. All US citizens and legal permanent residents are required to enroll by February 15th or are subject to pay a penalty (with limited exceptions).

To enroll at the upcoming event, please bring the following documents with you to apply:

1. Driver's License, a state issued photo ID, or passport

2. Social Security Card

3. Tax Returns from last year (2013)

4. Pay Stubs from your job, if you are employed

If you enrolled last year and need help with the re-enrollment process of selecting a new plan or adjusting your tax credits, then please bring all documents sent you from the Marketplace.

Enroll Lake County! was launched by the Lake County Health Department and local partners in 2013. Its focus is on educating and enrolling local residents in Medicaid and Health Insurance Marketplace plans. While the Marketplace enrollment period will close on February 15, navigators are helping residents enroll in Medicaid year-round.
