Mano a Mano receives 300 new winter coats from charitable group

A nonprofit group in Round Lake Park received 300 new winter coats for needy families Friday.

The coats were delivered to the Mano a Mano family resource center by Mundelein Fire Chief Tim Sashko and other volunteers with Operation North Pole, a Des Plaines-based charitable organization that works to bring Christmas joy to to local children who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Operation North Pole received the coats as donations but had a surplus, Sashko said.

"We just ended up getting way more than we needed," he said.
