Violinist Rachel Barton tutors Long Grove, Buffalo Grove band students

About 110 band students from Woodlawn Middle School in Long Grove and Twin Groves Middle School in Buffalo Grove gathered in the latter school's cafeteria Friday afternoon to hear famed violinist Rachel Barton Pine lecture and play.

She discussed the history of each piece she played. Her opening piece was "Caprice No. 24" by Paganini.

She started playing at the age of three and first performed with the Chicago Symphony at age 10. The schools are part of Kildeer-Countryside Elementary District 96.
