4-H kids join 'Hands On, Minds On' day of science

On Nov. 8, 35 youth from DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties took part in "Hands On, Minds On: Science with 4-H" at the Oswego Public Library branch in Montgomery.

The program was offered by the University of Illinois Extension-DuPage, Kane, Kendall Unit.

Designed for youth in second through seventh grade, this "Hands On, Minds On" event focused both on aerospace and healthy living. The youth took part in fun, age-appropriate, research-based activities with trained staff and volunteers.

Fourth- to seventh-graders participated in the 2014 National Youth Science Experiment, "Rockets to the Rescue." It provides young scientists the opportunity to explore how aerospace engineering can be used to solve real world challenges - such as food distribution in emergency situations - to make a positive impact in our world.
