Elgin Public Museum to host 'Touching on Traditions'

People from around the world who have made their homes in the Elgin area have brought with them a variety of beliefs and traditions.

This variety has given the Elgin community a rich diversity which is now part of its cultural heritage. Start a meaningful winter holiday tradition with your family by visiting the Elgin Public Museum's "Touching on Traditions," an authentic and culturally inclusive winter holiday exhibition. It features displays and objects of traditional holiday significance from 18 displays.

Admission is $2, or $1 for children, 3 to 11 years of age.

"Touching on Traditions" will be open to the public weekends in December. General hours are noon to 4 p.m.

The Elgin Public Museum educational staff offers group programs for schools, Scouts, clubs and adult groups, available weekdays and Saturdays throughout the month of December.

Bring your group to the beautifully decorated "Touching on Traditions" exhibition for a look into winter holiday traditions from around the world. Discover the back stories, folklore, and special traditions behind the exhibits that were originally developed by Elgin-area families who emigrated from other regions.
