Lucas Museum names founding president

Although the Lucas Museum of Narrative of Art is still in the planning stages, it has named the head of a Bentonville, Arkansas museum its first president.

The museum planned for Chicago announced Monday its development will be guided by Crystal Bridge Museum of American Art president Don Bacigalupi.

George Lucas said in a statement that Bacigalupi shares his vision for an "education-focused, world-class museum." Lucas noted that Bacigalupi has as track record of building a museum from inception.

Lucas plans to build his museum on land along Chicago's lakefront.

The land is currently a parking lot south of Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears. However, a federal lawsuit filed by Chicago advocacy group Friends of the Parks argues the city has no authority to hand over the land.
