Child Advocacy Center hosts holiday boutique Tuesday

The Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County is hosting a holiday shopping boutique featuring 13 local vendors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at its headquarters, 640 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

Among the participating vendors are Thirty-One, Mary Kay, Jamberry Nails, Lia Sophia, Tastefully Simple, Premiere Designs, Close to my Heart, Jewelscent, Young Living Essential Oils, Origami Owl, Bows by Mari, Arbonne and Handmade by Deb.

"Each representative will be donating a percentage of their overall sales back to CAC," said Simone Wheeler, the agency's director of development. "We had a number of representatives inquire about hosting a party for us and we came up with the idea for the boutique. The timing is perfect for holiday shoppers and it raises awareness about what we do."

In addition to crossing items off their gift lists, shoppers will have the chance to win raffle prizes from each vendor. Wine, food and sweet samples also will be provided.

The CAC works with the Department of Children and Family Services and local law enforcement to coordinate the investigations of child abuse allegations in 38 communities in north and northwest Cook County. The agency serves more than 650 children and families each year.

CAC also provides professional counseling, court, medical and legal advocacy, community referrals and other support services to help families heal from the trauma of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. All services are free.
