Oh, for 60 righteous Democrats

Before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham beseeched him to spare them if just 50 and then finally 10 "righteous" lived within. In the end, not even 10 righteous souls existed, so their destruction was brought on by their own actions. Have no doubt, this biblical lesson has relevance to the building constitutional crisis in Washington as Congress squares off against President Obama over the course of our country.

There is little rational doubt that the elections of 2014 were a referendum on all things Obama. For me the elections were also a referendum on Harry Reid's failure to bring lawfully passed measures to the Senate floor for a visible vote.

In contrast to Reid, Sen. Mitch McConnell has vowed to make the Senate once again a working chamber by bringing lawful measures to a Senate vote. These upcoming votes will show who is and who is not willing to lay aside Obama's socialist creed and his imperial agenda so that we might save our country from the perils of both.

Obama has already signaled no interest in working with McConnell. But in this world of "just desserts," Congress still has the power to override his veto if the measure carries a two-thirds majority of Congress.

Arithmetic suggests Republicans need roughly 13 Senate and roughly 47 congressional Democrats to join them on a path that adds jobs, restores our military, fights terrorism, closes our porous borders and repairs all of the foreign relationships damaged by six years of Obama.

So my question to the Senate and House Democrats is this: Are there 60 "righteous" Democrats who will rise above the " wickedness" of this president and spare us from destruction that he has brought by his social and lead-from-behind agenda?
