Bears show an offense, beat Vikings 21-13

Sunday's game started much like the Bears' previous three -- all losses -- with the Vikings jumping out to 10-0 lead in the first quarter.

But the Bears scored 21 unanswered points en route to a 21-13 victory that improved their record to 4-6, while dropping the Vikings to the same record.

Already leading 14-10, the Bears took the second-half kickoff and advanced to the Vikings' one-yard line, but on fourth down quarterback Jay Cutler's bootleg left was stopped a foot short of the goalline.

But on their first drive of the fourth quarter, the Bears scored on Jay Cutler's four-yard pass to Brandon Marshall for a 21-10 lead with 8:51 left.

The Bears have not scored a point in the first quarter since Oct. 5 against the Carolina Panthers. But they finally got on the board on Cutler's 27-yard TD pass to Alshon Jeffery. Cutler was flushed out of the pocket and rolled right before firing into the end zone where a closely covered Jeffery made a nice adjustment to the ball.

The Bears missed a scoring opportunity in the first quarter when Robbie Gould's 47-yard FG try was wide right. It was Gould's first attempt in four weeks.

Late in the second quarter, the Bears grabbed a lead for the first time since their Oct. 12 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Marshall was wearing Vikings cornerback Josh Robinson like a winter coat, but Cutler threw the ball anyway, and the 6-foot-4 wide receiver went up and won a jump ball in the end zone to put the Bears ahead 14-10 with a 44-yard TD catch.

The Bears missed an opportunity to pad their lead late in the first half when Cutler's deep ball intended for Jeffery was intercepted at the Vikings' 33-yard line with seven seconds remaining.
