Exchange Clubs Host Free Prayer Breakfast

The Exchange Clubs of Lake County will host a free One Nation Under God Annual Prayer Breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, at the Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 N. Hunt Club Road.

The event, open to the public, is hosted each year during the week of Thanksgiving to bring communities and businesses together and prayerfully acknowledge and appreciate the blessings of liberty bestowed upon the country.

The program will begin with an opening prayer by Pastor Todd Habegger, senior pastor, Village Church of Gurnee, followed by presentation of colors by the Gurnee Fire and Police Departments; singing of "The Star Spangled Banner" by the Viking Park Singers; recognition of military veterans; keynote address by Chief Judge John Phillips, State's Attorney Michael Nerheim, and 19th Circuit Clerk Keith Brin; a closing prayer by Pastor Ben Squires, Bethel Lutheran Church; and the singing of "God Bless America" by 13-year-old Adelia Mahaffee of Gurnee, a student at Woodland Middle School. She is the daughter of former Assistant State's Attorney Shane Mahaffee, who served in the Army Reserve and was killed in Iraq in 2006. A buffet style breakfast will be served.

The Exchange is a service organization working together to make communities better places through programs of service in Americanism, community service, youth activities, and its national project, the prevention of child abuse. The Exchange Clubs of Lake County are ALL (Antioch, Lake Villa, Lindenhurst), Grayslake, Gurnee, North Chicago, Round Lake, Waukegan and Zion.
